Word Hoard

1. Steadfast- resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering
2. Bountifully- large in quantity; abundant
3. Bewailing- express great regret, disappointment, or bitterness over (something) by complaining about it to others
4. Renege- go back on a promise, undertaking, or contract
5. Harrowed- an implement consisting of a heavy frame set with teeth or tines that is draggedover plowed land to break up clods, remove weeds, and cover seed.
6. Marauding- roam in search of things to steal or people to attack
7. Blundering- a stupid or careless mistake
8. Wassail- lively and noisy festivities involving the drinking of plentiful amounts of alcohol; revelry.
9. Litter- the group of young animals born to an animal at one time
10. Heathenish- a person who does not belong to a widely held religion (esp. one who is not a Christian, Jew, or Muslim) as regarded by those who do
11. Seafarers

12. Moored

  • My boat was sinking so I moored it to the shore so I wouldn't end up swimming with the fishes

13. Gumption
Undaunted, sitting astride his horse,
the coast-guard answered, "Anyone with gumption... (Heaney, p.21)

  • Even though boy who bullied me was 2x bigger than I was, I had the gumption to set him straight.

14. Formidable

  • Usually I am an easy going person so I am not so much formidable unless I am playing a sport where I have an opponent 

15. Wane
..our humiliations. My household-guard

  • Once the summer was over and it was back to school, the tan I developed had waned because I didn't have the time to go to the beach.
